Four Years

Minutes ago I remembered what today is.  It is June 20th, which means as of today, Tony and I have been together for four years.

Of course Tony will never memorize the date (and being that he now has a wedding anniversary and three birthdays to remember every year, I will cut him some slack on this), but I am the nostalgic and sentimental type, so I remember.  The details are a little blurry, but this is how I remember it...

I should warn you, it's a very romantic tale...

A bunch of my girlfriends were heading up to a tiny town called Chetek, Wisconsin to belly up at a bar one of them worked at.  Long story short, everyone bailed but me.

As a 20 year old girl, I was naturally a little nervous about hanging out in a bar in a town where I know no one....for eight hours.  Then again, I wouldn't pass up many opportunities to hang out at a bar at this point in my life.

After making some calls to some friends, asking them to join me, I was told a certain Tony Otto was from there and happened to be in his home town that night.  Tony and I had met a couple of times and had many mutual friends, so I called him and asked him if he would please come out if only for one drink, and by the way, this is Anna from Log Jam, no, not the tall brunette, the short blonde one.

Tony eventually came out with his brother and another Stout friend and met up with me  After really having to twist his arm (oh, please) Tony said he would join me for a drink, though he had taken a vow not to drink during the week for that summer, as he was beefing up for the upcoming football season.  Tony instigated (typical) a game of tippy cup, getting pretty much everyone in the bar involved.

Yep, that'd be us four years ago.

After a couple of hours of this, Tony made some sort of pass at me or asked me out (again, blurry details) and I said no, telling him he's not my type.  He responded with something like, "Yeah, well I don't like blondes, anyway."

In one instant, I fell head over heels.  We had our first kiss shortly thereafter...it may or may not have been by the dumpster behind bar.  And, as they say, the rest is history...

I say, that's fairytale material :)
