A time to adjust

I finally went to the dentist last week.  It had been three years and was finally time.  The last time I had my teeth cleaned (by a hygienist, naturally) was when I was pregnant with Lucy and my wisdom teeth were coming in and making me miserable.  I didn't give it a second thought until second baby in my belly causing them to push through even more and hurt me yet again.

My new dentist and I discussed that I will need to have oral surgery as I have let them come in and he cannot take them out, and then we got on to the subject of teeth clenching.  Yep, I'm a clencher and a grinder, which he said he could tell by the shape of my profile (?!?).  He then went on to tell me that the latest in dental care for grinders/clenchers such as myself is botox.  Yep, botox.  I thought I was being really cute and witty and asked him if he wouldn't mind hitting up my forehead while he was at it, to which he replied, "Yeah, and I see you've got some crow's feet, too.  We can address those in the consultation next month."  Dead serious.
Oh, to be young enough to still get zits and old enough to be told you have wrinkles.  Nice.  What's my age again?

Tony and I recently had a weekend to ourselves to paint Clara's room and the girls went to my mom and dad's.  I kept thinking about cancelling as I wasn't sure how Clara would do without me for two days until I realized she would be just fine.  It was me who wasn't totally comfortable with the idea.  Lucy is obsessed with "Misconsin" and "Papa and Gaga's house", so I was excited for her to be able to go and have fun.  Needless to say, she was not happy about coming home.

You would think it would be romantic being home just the two of us, but really it consisted of filets-o-fish and the inevitable home improvement arguments.  If Tony and I ever end up divorced (or killing each other), mark my words, it will be over a painting project.  I always start with the best of intentions, but I am not anal enough to do well on corners, around trim, etc, etc...  Tony always has to fix my mistakes after asking me not to paint in the first place.  I have to say this project was probably one of the least severe, but after the babes got home, Miss Clara the Crawler knocked over a can of paint hard enough to open it and spill it all over the cream carpet; in, of course, one of the two rooms in the entire house that even has carpet.  Being the optimist I am, I suggest tearing the carpet up and refinishing the beautiful hardwood that was covered by the carpet in the first place.  Tony thinks it would be cheaper to re-carpet.  Anyone with knowledge on the subject?  I'm all ears.

Life around here has been interesting since Tony's new schedule.  We are still trying to find down time to exchange notes on the day-to-day when the girls are sleeping and we are uninterrupted, but as of now Tony goes to bed as early, if not earlier, than the girls.  I, myself, am trying to find my time to fulfill my Ruffle Couture orders and get some new products made and off the ground.  By the time I get everyone tucked in and the house nice and quiet, I am not feeling especially motivated or creative.  I just want to be lazy and read my newsfeed or get lost in a random facebook photo album.

Thursday is the big weigh-out for our GetFit challenge.  I am pretty disappointed by how much I have yo-yo'd these past three months and haven't really lost anything substantial.  I was very nervous and anxious last week for my 5K training as the third day of training was a 20-minute stretch.  It went much better than anticipated and I am glad to be backing down in time this week for training.  I am slightly embarrassed that 20 minutes is such a huge accomplishment for me.  Stop judging me, runners.  (This is where I got stumped trying to brag about something that I can probably do better than people that are good at running....I got nothing).

Off to bed.  The girls are newly early-risers and it's really pissing me off taking a toll on me.  Praying to wake up to some beautiful sunshine in the morning!

  2. hmmm, don't know about the floors, but I do know hard wood is beautiful, plus its in most of the rest of your house, PLUS if any more messes happen they will be easier to clean up, right?

Also, 20 minutes is a big deal! I really think if you can do 20 min, you can do anything. About the weight loss, I hear ya girl. I need to lose about 20, and I told myself that I would treat myself to new running shoes when I got to 10. I hadn't been weighting myself in a while, so I got back on the scale and guess where I am? Exactly where I started.. grrrr. I have to say, all the fried foods and happy hours I've indulged in lately sure were delicious and possibly worth it. : )
