Purple is my favorite color

Last week, while working at Gymocha I received the most interesting tip of almost 10 years on and off working in bars/restaurants and now a coffee shop.  Up until this point, my most memorable tip was $100 for singing the national anthem to some out of town business men at The Jam

Monday, after making a latte for some guy, he came up to me and asked if we could "do each other a favor"  (ew!).  I politely asked if there was something I could help him with and he held up a necklace which really looked more like a giant rock hanging from rusty bike chain.
"Would you say this is your style?"  He asked.
Uhhhh....no?  Assuming he was just asking for a woman's opinion, I told him purple is my favorite color in an attempt to find something nice to say about the hideous piece of "jewelry".
He proceeded to tell me that this rock is an amethyst, and he wants me to take it as a tip.  Nervously I took it and smiled, attempting to flash the wedding ring on my left hand at him.  He told me I was "doing him a favor" and called me beautiful.  Inappropriate.
"Oh! Thank you."  I said nervously and tried to run away, but there were more drinks to be made.  Before I got the chance to hide in the back and run away, the man came back up to the counter to tell me, "you know, amethyst is like a semi-precious stone.  So, like, that necklace is worth, like, a-hundred-and-five-bucks."

What a gentleman.

"Maybe you shouldn't be giving it to me, then."  I told him.
"No! I want you to have it.  New energy."  He says, extending his arm in my direction.  Awkward.

The ladies I work with let me hide for a little while until he left.  In hindsight, I wish that I had had the courage to hand it to him and tell him how uncomfortable he had made me and that I cannot accept it.  My husband is convinced that I need to keep the necklace at work to give back in case he ever comes back.  That and that I should quit because I'm prone to creepers.

I just hope he's not reading like my mailman.
