Her and Tony played in the snow this morning and I had to let go to my nature phobia. I can handle messes, but not dirt. Or snow. Or ice. Ick. The only thing snow is good for is falling outside my window to look at during the Christmas season. After Christmas I am over it. Nonetheless, Lucy has been talking about building a snowman for weeks now and it was an excuse for me to go to shopping at Target to get "snow boots", "snow mittens"....etc, etc...all the things I don't believe in
My poor children are never going to be able to play in the dirt or get messy. I have friends who have generously offered to do these things with them for me which I am okay with so I don't have to see it happen and stress. But I will need them returned to me clean with bows in their hair :/
Tony has been on vacation this week and it has gone by terribly fast. I look at Tony's vacation as mine too. I can leave the house without two littles every once in a while without getting a sitter :)
He had many things on his to-do list this week, but his number 1 priority was to take Lucy sledding. I tried to get some pictures, but this is the best I could do -- I believe they were taking a break...
I got Lucy to come in by bribing her with hot chocolate. We have some unsweetened Hershey's cocoa in the cupboard, and this is the recipe I tried out. It is seriously the best hot chocolate ever.
Heat 1 cup milk in the microwave for 1 1/2 minutes. Add 2 Tbsp. cocoa powder, and 2 Tbsp. sugar. Add a dash of salt and 1/4 tsp vanilla.
Amazing. Lucy, Clara and I sat in the breakfast nook and chatted over coffee. Lucy asked me, "Soooo, how are you doing, Mama?" She is me, twenty years younger with a hint of strawberry in her hair. What a peach.
Today is a perfect day for baking cookies for my cookie exchange tonight and cranking the Christmas tunes.
BTW, I did finally make a Christmas card. And by a I mean 9. I narrowed it down to two. Now I am just anxiously awaiting their arrival and I will be mailing two seperate cards this year. I'm such a wierdo.
so cute! That hot chocolate sounds yummy and I can very easily make a vegan version!! Thats on my to do list tonight :)
