Yesterday the four of us stayed in our pajamas. All day. We all have runny noses and sore throats so nothing especially serious (I hope/not yet) but enough to keep us home and in our pj's. It was pretty gloomy outside anyway and it was the perfect Sunday to catch up on reruns of Glee :)
For dinner I slow roasted a whole chicken for a good chunk of the late afternoon and after dinner we all snuggled up again to watch the football game between the Vikings/Packers. (Go pack! I just might wear my 'MN: Worst State Ever' tee in public today. Wish me luck.) It was wonderful. I kept taking mental pictures because I want to remember it. I know when the girls are older that moment will be one of those that I miss. I obviously don't like it when my kids are sick, but something about it makes them extra snuggly and a little worn out.
With dinner I made roasted garlic mashed potatoes - a favorite that I seldom give into anymore. They were actually quite crumbly and I can only guess that maybe it was because of the soy milk and "vegan buttery sticks" that I used in pace of milk and butter? Tony always refers to us as "The Buttertons". I am completely out of control whe it comes to cooking/baking with butter. I am a true Wisconsin dairy loving girl.
The dairy free diet has been going okay so far, but I'm about ready to rule it out of Clara's fussiness issue. I think she is just simply sick. Poor girl.
I now have 8 cups of chicken stock I made from scratch and the mailman brought us a bunch of tomatoes. Ooh! And I have a surplus of plain yogurt. Recipes/suggestions, anyone??
