Bay-cation Bible School

This week Lucy has been attending our church's Vacation Bible School for three hours every morning.  It has been good practice for upcoming preschool...for both her and me.

I have been enjoying getting some one-on-one time with Clara, not to mention quiet time while Clara gets to nap in peace.  By pick-up time I am ready to have my sassy little 3-yr-old back and hear all about her morning of playing and singing with other kids her age.

Yesterday, as Clara and I walked into the church to pick Lucy up, I saw all of the kids (must be 200-300 kids) leaving donning little white t-shirts with a cartoon panda that reads "Pandamania".  When I saw Lucy, I instantly noticed that she wasn't wearing a t-shirt and I got nervous that I screwed up, did I not pay for a shirt?  Did I drop her off too late?  My friend Christine greeted me, t-shirt in hand, explaining (while biting her lip, trying not to laugh in front of Lucy) that Lucy cried and screamed when they tried to put the t-shirt on her.  She refused to wear the shirt like all of the other kids, and is the only one in the group photo who will not be wearing one.  Lucy's group leader and Christine both told me that Lucy said she preferred her "ruffle shirt".

While driving home, I asked Lucy why she didn't want to wear the shirt and she told me (sounding like my echo) that that shirt "has a cartoon panda on it, and those kinds of shirts are not clothes-shirts, they are only for pajamas."

I have created a serious fashion-savvy monster.

Sure enough, Lucy wore the panda shirt to bed, and insisted on her black ruffled dress with a fancy headband with her ruffle sandals first thing when she woke up this morning.  I swear, more than half of the time, she is better dressed than me.
