Two posts in one day? Why not?

As Lucy plays with her kitchen behind me I overhear her singing in the tune of "Frarajaka"

"Are you listening? Are you listening? Do you know? Do you know? Stories from the bible, stories from the bible, help us grow, help us grow."

I almost want to tear up hearing her little voice singing a song I have never heard before. It's as if I'm realizing for the first time that she is going to learn things from other people and my first experience of this is a good one. My heart is happy.

Even better, I can understand clearly all of her words and even recognize the tune. Do I have a little singer on my hands? A musical mom can only hope :)

In other news, I just received, in the mail, a book of Target toys with coupons. I'm a little disappointed their two adorable kitchen sets are really good deals as we already have a great kitchen set and of course her shopping cart that she loves and I got for her last year has a coupon for 50% off. I guess I'm just ahead of the times. There is, however a great dollhouse on sale...

It has a coupon, and I still have a 10% off coupon for Target I've been saving for a big purchase and then using my Target card gives me another 5% off. It's originally $119. Let's see how much I can shave that down, shall we?

Then Target hits me with even cuter, much more expensive dollhouses like these at the bottom of the page (jerks!)...

If I do get her the dollhouse, that will probably be her only gift from us, as we have decided to not be those parents who spoil their children with lots of toys at Christmastime. In part because we want to bring them up knowing what Christmas is really all about (blah, blah, blah, I know, I know), we can't afford to spend a ton every Christmas with so many friends and family to buy for, and part because we already go out of our minds cleaning up the few toys we have.
For our good friends, Tony and I have already started making your Christmas gifts (that's a hint). I do believe at one point I brought up the idea to hand make her Christmas gifts this year.
Am I crazy? Yes. Here's a thought; maybe I'll make every gift (or most) I give this year. That would definitely be blogworthy. Thoughts? Suggestions?

  1. I LOVE making Christmas gifts. I am making quite a few gifts this year as well. You should check out Martha Stewart's website if you have not yet. What DIY website are you finding all of this ruffle stuff on?!?! Super cute:)
