Basically since I started this second weight loss journey I have been mentioning here and there my concerns for Clara and her gassy little baby butt. My new friend Kendra, who I have mentioned before, and is Vegan, has finally pushed me over the edge today. She has suggested I give up dairy to see if it makes a difference in Clara's diet. Now, I will tell you the same thing I told Kendra - I have considered this and decided against it for two reasons. A) Clara has been especially fussy since my diet has become so high in fiber and full of vegetables as opposed to my high-in-fat/dairy diet which brings me to B) I love cheese so much that I just might marry it. I'm not kidding. I love Tony to death, but dairy products come in at a close 2nd.
Where do the girls fit into that? Good question.
I just may give this dairy-free diet a try. No matter how much I love cheese, I love my little Clara more and even if it kills me (which I really think it might) I should at least attempt it if it means making her little belly feel better.
Now again I am not going to go cold turkey...YET. I am going to need a sound game plan and many reinforcements. I don't know if you understand that cheese is my crack-cocaine. Rehab is not going to be easy. One day at a time!
Kendra has already introduced me to several websites with great vegan recipes. I might literally need to plan out every meal for the next few weeks to get through this.
If nothing else, this may be just what I needed to lose those last couple of pounds before the end of the month. After all, we are closing in on November and I am not feeling cose enough to my goal. It is time to get serious. I will go dairy free for 14-21 days. I will let you know what I decide. Extra prayers are going to be needed. Thank you in advance.
On a happy note, a certain someone pooped on the potty today. She also instantly remembered the promise I had made to her that the day she poops on the potty I will bake cupcakes and "throw a party". Maybe she will settle for funfetti cupcakes (a party in and of themselves) and a Target shopping trip. When the cupcakes are gone then I'll cut out milk.
Keep in mind Anna that you can still make a lot of your favorites just use substitutes :) or just eliminate where it isn't really necessary. Use vanilla almond or soymilk in cereal and baking, use plain when it comes to things that aren't supposed to be sweet...like casseroles and such. Dairy free butter is magically identical to regular butter and Daiya cheese is the cheese substitute I was talking about. I promise you'll love it.
