A letter to my daughters

I miss my blog.  I think about it often and get annoyed when other, shittier blogs are updated more often that I am able to with my own.  I have been ridiculously busy with my Etsy shop and am overwhelmed by the response I have gotten.  Thank you, friends, for supporting me in my latest endeavor.  Because of it, my income alone is paying off one entire credit card bill (no, not Target, let's not get ahead of ourselves...) !!  For those of you who are familiar with Dave Ramsey and/or The Total Money Makeover, this is a huge deal for our debt snowball

I was talking with my mom recently about blog2print.com and printing my blog to a book to share with my girls someday.  (You know, when I get time...)   I am always feeling bad for little miss second child, Clara, and how I haven't been logging her every move as I did with Lucy.  By printing my blog (which has basically become a diary), Clara will see that the second week of February, 2011, she was officially a crawler.  My mom pointed out that us mothers always think you will remember all the cute little things our kids say and do, but if you don't write them down, you won't.  By the time we blink they are older and onto another exciting stage of life that you, again, think you will remember on your own.  Mom reminded me to keep writing all of the funny things that Lucy says and joked that she should have put goether a list of her own from when I was in high school.  We laughed together about how "cute" I was when I said things like "I hate you" or how adorably I crashed her car my senior year of high school.

For the sake of keeping track, here is a snapshot of life as we know it today -

Lucy - "I have to save Clara from her crib, Mommy.  She is my best friend!"
Cute, right?  Until later in the afternoon when she told me her "other mommy" is her best friend because I am "sooo mean".

Clara is getting a top tooth (yes, one).  I can only imagine how that is going to look.  I am also cutting dairy from my diet as it seems Clara has a new found lactose intolerance.  Awesome.  Here we go again.  She is lucky I love her so much and can't enough of her chewy cheeks.

I have learned so much about myself lately.  I don't know if being a mom has turned me into this new person, or I am just discovering all of these things about myself for the first time.  Someone had commented on some of the things I was making, and said something to the effect of "look at what talents motherhood has brought out in you".  That struck me in a strange (good) way.  I never thought I would be someone who will
  • dance in public on Saturday mornings wearing tennis shoes and sweatpants,
  • chew on little cheeks and make stupid noises,
  • sing "D-D-D-D-D-Dora" 500 times in a row,
  • play ring-around-the rosy until I am so dizzy I could vomit,
  • drive in a snowstorm to check for ear infections,
  • forget about the rest of the world and stare at little staring faces unaware of the time that has passed,
  • stay up and rock, singing made up words to any tune I can think of
Back to my sweat shop of a dining room!
