I was on my way to pick up the girls from their day at daycare and stopped at home really quickly to run inside and grab one thing. When I got back out to my car I realized I had locked my keys in it. Ughhh. I walked a stroller to my daycare lady's house to pick up the girls. Luckily it was a beautiful day out and her house is only two blocks from mine.
The nice policeman came over and broke into my car for me. Tony and I often joke about how many times we have called the police since living here and the list is getting quite long. To name a few there was this one time that...
- A creepy man was stalking me at the library and he may or may not have been trying to follow me home
- Another creepy man had fallen off his bike and was laying on the sidewalk drunk while Emily and I were on a walk
- The police were shining lights at our house and driving by slowly (turns out they were looking for a loose dog)
- I went on a rampage after a car drove fast past my house blowing a stop sign
- Someone put a sign advertising a mattress in our yard
- I thought I lost my wallet but really I just left it at the store
- A dead bird was laying at the end of my driveway and I nicely asked them to come take care of it...and they did!
I am sure by now I am known as the crazy lady in the white house on 3rd Ave. Thank you, Austin Police. I would say I owe you one, but I recently paid you $125 for an erroneous speeding ticket. I would say it's a fairly even exchange.
My kitchen is all painted (queue the angels singing)!! Tony and I have had many arguments over the course of the last several months over the great painting of the kitchen debate. Tears were shed and all. If our big fights are over wall color I think we are doing well :)We redid our kitchen March-ish and the one thing I wanted to keep was the wall color...until everything else was done. The more I looked at the walls the more I saw this aggravating green undertone in the light brown. The more I stared at it, the more insane I felt. I can only describe it like this - it was like a green poop. Yes, the poop as a whole is brown, but the green of it cannot be ignored and it just doesn't look right. Tony insisted it's brown and it's fine and leave it alone.
At this point I had just painted the third bedroom, the breakfast nook, the new kitchen island, the trim in the kitchen, the crib..... (I could go on) and Tony was really over it. As my projects typically go I am all gung-ho until I get bored and then do a half-assed job finishing up. I'm aware of how annoying it is and I'm working on following through. Tony was not excited to pull the kitchen apart again.
When Tony got home from work last night the kitchen was more than half painted -- and he liked it. I tried not to but I kept pulling out I-told-you-so's. I pointed out a wall that was part the new paint and half the old and asked Tony if he finally saw the green that I have been fussing over and he had the audacity to tell me that he saw the green all along but wouldn't admit it for the purpose of not having to paint the kitchen. Oh, the nerve :)
It's done! It's finally done!
These pictures don't do it justice, but if you look on the right side and then the left side of the doorway you can see the difference in color. Below is a better example of the new color with a little strip of the old color by the black fridge.
I am behind on my list of things I'm thankful for, so here are a few -
The kitchen looks awesome!!! I love the new paint color and I must agree with you....it "finishes" everything! Tony and Hans are a lot alike in that way....admitting after the fact simply because they didn't want to have to do more work. Oh well we love our HORMEL HUSBANDS anyways!
ReplyDeleteit looks great! it is a great color! way to go anna!
ReplyDeleteThis blog post made me laugh, a lot. I definitely love that color. It's so versatile! It reminds me of the color I have throughout my house. Can't wait to see the finished product! Also, how much do you hate taping things up before painting?? It drives me nuts.
